Useful Info on Vehicle Transportation
To help you find the right types of transportation for your vehicle, we at CVS would
like to offer you information on the industry. We hope that you find this information
useful.
Open Carrier Trucks

Open Carrier Trucks come in a variety of different types. They range from 3 car
to 12 car transports. They are the most common and price effective means of transporting
your vehicle. Your vehicle will be open to the elements while in transit, so if
you are looking for the highest protection this may not be the transport for you.
Prices will vary by route, and size of your vehicle; however if you are looking
to be as economical as possible then this is the transport for you.
Enclosed Carrier Trucks

Enclosed Carrier Trucks also come in a variety of different sizes. They range from
a 2 car to an 8 car transport. The most common are 2 or 4 car varieties. The larger
8 car enclosed transports are convertible open/closed and are far more rare. While
in transit your vehicle will be enclosed and much more protected from road wear
and the elements. This is the highest form of protective you can get for your car
in transportation. The typical price difference for an enclosed ranges from 50%-75%
than the same vehicle would cost on an open transport.
Flatbed Trucks
Flat bed trucks are the most expensive form of vehicle transportation. Similar to
the open transport your vehicle will be open to road wear and the elements. This
type of transportation is most frequently used for oversized vehicles and equipment.
They typically only will transport 1 or 2 vehicles at a time. The average price
of a flatbed truck is between $1.oo and $1.50 per mile. A flatbed is also always
required for vehicles that are inoperable and cannot roll, break, or steer.
